What I Wore: (not at all) loveless

Jumper, Meadham Kirchhoff for Amazon / Camouflage jacket, New Look / Trainer heels, Internationale / Gold hoop earrings, H&M / Black jeans, Clothes Show Live trader / Gold bangles, River Island / Red bandanna, market

Hi there, how are you today? How was your weekend?
Enough of the small talk...

I've had the most chilled out weekend in months. The past three weeks have consisted of a bridesmaids' weekend, dinner with friends, hosting a Saturday lunch for family and a Sunday Mothers' Day lunch for the in-laws. So mainly lots of socialising and way too much pigging out! Needless to say I was rather thankful to have a weekend doing nothing more than a bit of pottering around the house and watching lots of DVDs with my man. We were planning on visiting a local car boot sale, but the snow put a stop to that. The only successful ventures out of the house were to the supermarket for supplies and to the cinema to see Oz The Great and The Powerful. This is the outfit I wore for the latter...

The jumper is rather special isn't it? It is part of a collection of four sweatshirts (priced at £75 each) created exclusively for Amazon, by amazing London-based designing duo, Meadham Kirchhoff. The four sweatshirts consist of one men's style featuring a monster print, and three ladies' styles. I was kindly sent the Loveless design by the good people at Amazon. Meadham Kirchhoff described the design as showing, "an abstract crochet style heart broken in two with the signature ribbon lettering written in lipstick.” The other two designs from the collection include two unicorns in an 80's style girly motif, and a 30's style paper doll print with the words 'Mother may I?'. Both very cute, but I do love my loveless sweatshirt! Light, but slightly fleecy on the inside, it is the perfect spring jumper, especially considering the current weather.

As you may have guesses from my last post, I love a collaboration, be it by a musician, a designer or a stylish celeb, with a high street brand or website. Being a bargain lover, I may not be able to afford couture, or even ready-to-wear designer garms, but a collaboration like this allows a taste of their style for a fraction of the price. I think it's fab that Amazon have arranged this partnership, and I hope they've got many more designer-collaborations in the pipeline for the future.

What do you think of the designs? Who would you like to see Amazon collaborate with? What other brand/designer partnerships would get you excited?

What I Wore: What I Wear

If you follow me on Twitter (@Fashion_Bandit) you may have seen me getting rather excited this morning - as I have been featured in the Metro! Sorry about that...

Just before Christmas I was invited by the Metro's style editor, Bel Jacobs, to come down to London for a photo-shoot to appear in this regular 'What I Wear' feature. I was really nervous prior to the shoot, not really sure why, as it wasn't my first time in front of a camera. The day before the shoot I made sure I had coloured my hair, and packed (far too many) clothes, in case I put on my outfit and had a sudden, "Argggghhhhh, I hate this outfit" moment. It happens to the best of us.

I was greeted at the Metro by the lovely Bel, and taken to the studio. P.S. The Metro is part of Associated Newspapers - and their offices are swanky! Here I was left with a gorgeous lady called Charlotte, who did a great job on my make up, and amazing photographer Philip Waterman. Philip was really kind and put me at ease straight away, obviously a very good talent when you are a photographer! He took a whole heap of images and then I was done.

A few weeks after the shoot I was kindly allowed to chose my favourite photo to be featured, which was tricky, because - thanks to Philip- there were lots of good ones. And by good, I mean considering they were of me, he did a good job, I pretty much always think I look like a dork. I then I answered a list of fashiony questions, for them to whittle down into the feature.

I have been waiting patiently for the past couple of months, and thought I was going to be featured next week, so I was surprised to get some lovely texts, tweets and Facebook messages this morning about the the piece!

If you do fancy reading the full article and getting a better look at my outfit, the feature is also online HERE. I am wearing my favourite vintage jumper, a black knitted dress and gold necklace from H&M, Henry Holland for Pretty Polly tights, and Accessorize bowler hat, my ebay shoes and a Punky Pins brooch.

Did any of the gorgeous London-based people spot me this morning? Have you ever been featured in a paper? Would you?

What I Wore: If You Dare

A little outfit post for you today!

I just wanted to show you one of the ways I've been wearing my new Men's River Island T-shirt - today it was over a very bright Topshop dress - which I also wore HERE, like a million years ago. I now have quite the collection of men's Tees and the print on this one is just lovely. The bowler hat I bought last year but it hasn't had too much wear yet. I've not worn these shoes for ages either, but I love that they make me well-over 6ft tall. Yikes.

I forced James out onto the street to take some photos for today's post - and it was bitterly cold, so we lasted all of about six minutes before I turned into a human icicle and he started to complain about people staring. Honestly.

Just a quick one tonight, I have got to paint my nails as we are going wedding ring shopping tomorrow and I don't think chipped neon talons sends the right message. Unless the message is, I am poor and scruffy. In which case at least it would be an honest message...

What I Wore: A Colourful New Look

Camo jacket, New Look / coral trousers, H&M / snood, H&M / ankle boots, M&S / jumper Dorothy Perkins / gold spikes, skull, bead and pearl bracelets, River Island / 'Oui' bracelet, vintage / braided and spiked bracelet, homemade / nose ring, River Island (as featured HERE)

It has been a bit of a while since I did a proper outfit post - but like buses, they all come at once, so I have a few coming up for you over the next few weeks! You may remember I entered a New Look competition with Sparkle blog, late last year (post HERE) and I was a runner up,and very happily won a £30 gift card.

The competition centred around styling an outfit to go with a pair of their fab jeans, so my original plan was to use my voucher to buy myself a pair of those bad boys. My local New Look in Milton Keynes has a re-fit recently so I had a fun hour trying on lots of bits and pieces, including jeans...but it was this gorgeous jacket that caught my eye.

Apart from the camo print, the jacket is quite plain, with very few metal findings, which is perfect for me, as I can style it up however I like. The jacket is medium weight so I can wear it both now, and in the summer months, oh, and it was only £25!

This outfit I wore to go out for a few casual drinks, so I just paired my new jacket with those amazing coral sale trousers from H&M (as featured HERE) and colour coordinated scarf that my lovely man bought for me (as featured HERE). I am trying to wear a bit more colour this year, and not always opt for black. I've stocked up on a few bracelets too and am loving these from River Island (as featured HERE), worn with both a vintage bracelet, and my homemade braid/spike studded one.

What are you trying to wear more of this year? What do you think of the bracelet collection? -I am in the process of making more of the braid/spike ones! Anyone else trying out some camouflage print this season?

Foodie Review: The Living Room MK

Good afternoon my lovelies.

Something a bit different for you today  - a wee restaurant review. Back when I was a full time features journalist I did a fair few restaurant reviews, it was undoubtedly one of the perks of the job, and James didn't complain much being my just-enjoy-a-free-dinner companion. Sadly in my current employment there are less opportunities for for such fun, so when The Living Room in Milton Keynes offered me a review, I thought it would be just rude not to take them up on the offer.

The MK Living Room opened about four years ago - I was actually invited along to the opening and had a fantastic meal with some of my colleagues - but strangely I have not really eaten there since. For me, The Living Room became a fun, classy, and bustling place to swing by for a few drinks on a night out. Located at The Hub, there are a few other drinking spots locally, but The Living Room always has a good atmosphere and it attracts a slightly older crowd than the likes of Revolution, which I am thankful for! I think I had actually forgot that although downstairs is an energetic bar at the weekends (reverting to a more chilled out one during the week), upstairs is a restaurant.

We visited on a Wednesday night, expecting it to be quiet. So we were quite amazed at how busy the whole place was, from the bar (who I believe were hosting a private event) to the restaurant, that had a steady flow of customers. The Living Room restaurant is almost on, what feels like, a suspended floor, as the tables at the edge slightly overlook the ground floor. This effect on a quiet-to-slightly busy night is lovely, as you can sometimes be lucky enough to hear someone tickling the ivories on the white baby grand piano downstairs. However I expect eating at the restaurant during the weekend, when the bar is packed, might be a slightly noisier experience.

The Living Room change their menu seasonally, and pride themselves on 'traditional favourites with an original twist'. While we perused the menu James & I shared a selection of warm breads with dipping oil. You might notice this isn't featured in the above images, I sort of forgot to take a picture in all the excitement - but they looked like tasty bread, I am sure you can imagine.

James selected one of the new dishes on the menu for his starter, a rich Black Forest smoked cured ham and figs, with a creamy goats cheese mousse and raspberry and beetroot vinaigrette and jellies. Now this might not sound the most exciting course, but after a taste, I can assure you, it was amazing how well these ingredients combined to create serious mouthwatering flavour! I started with some homemade butternut squash and roasted red petter soup, which came with some bread and butter. I love a homemade soup as much, if not slightly more, than the next person, and this one was delicious  A smooth texture, with a lovely depth of flavour, my real problem was restraining myself from eating the entire hearty portion, and leaving room for the rest of my meal.

When we chose our main course I was seriously tempted by the 'trio of pork', but in the end opted for the much lighter pan fried sea bass. I love sea bass, but only ever eat it when we dine out - I must investigate getting some to try cooking at home. Anyone got any recipes? This one was served with a meaty lentil casserole and orange scented broccoli. Again, you may think this is a bit of a weird collaboration, but the light and delicate fish was perfectly complemented by the broccoli that was only gently flavoured with the orange, and the gorgeous lentil casserole gave the dish a bit more sustenance. James had duck breast with szechuan pepper and plum chutney, chilli fried bok choi and sweet potato fondant. I am not a lover of spicy food, so I can only rely on what James told me about his dish, which was 'yeah, very nice' - thanks love, informative as always. I can say the duck looked to be cooked until just about still pink (not that you can tell from the photo), and the sweet potato fondant was very good - I love me some sweet potato!

For dessert we thought it only right to go for a sharing board. This consisted of four different desserts, and there was easily enough for four not very hungry people, three peckish people or two total pigs. Ah-herm... so there was chocolate truffle cake, which the menu informed us came with crushed honeycomb, but our honey comb arrived atop of our vanilla ice cream portion instead. The cake itself was rather nice, but needed the ice cream with it to stop it being too heavy. There was also an apple streusel tart, which was popular with James, but I thought could have done with a dollop of custard (I am northern, we like our custard thick, ok?!). The one I was looking forward to trying the most was the 'Basil Grande' Eton mess, essentially a big Eton mess with some cheeky basil mixed in. My jury is still out on this one - I have to say - it tasted quite nice, but the basil flavour kept confusing my taste buds, so I think I might have preferred this one without the 'twist'. Finally there was a coconut and passion fruit crème brulée, which was our unanimous favourite - a really unexpected and pleasant take on a classic, which was light and more-ish.

I really enjoyed our meal out, and I think the prices (anywhere between  £3.75-£8 for starters, £10-£20 for a main course, and most desserts around £4.75 each), for the quality of the food, are rather reasonable. I think it is safe to say, we won't be forgetting about the restaurant again!

Oh, and your dose of fashion, I wore: Top, ring, skirt and bag from Primark, Collar from Topshop, Tights from Charnos and  Boots from Ebay. I am also sporting massive roots, I like to think, in a I-don't-give-a-damn sort of way (wishful thinking). The horrendous hair has since been temporarily fixed, but I will show you that in my next post!

Do you have a Living Room near you? Have you eaten there & what did you think? Any other recommendations for good places to eat in Milton Keynes or Buckinghamshire?

What I Wore: Grunge Glam

Do you ever put together an outfit consisting of  current favourites and without knowing it - it fits a certain look? That is what this day was like, favourite jeans, favourite shirt, favourite jacket and I ended up with a bit of a grunge but glam look. It was only when I was editing this post that I also realised all three of these main items are from River Island!

I am loving studs and spikes and they are just about everywhere at the minute. Sadly I don't have much moolah to spend at the mo, so when I spotted some spiked studs in River Island I though it would be the perfect opportunity to pimp my favourite shirt on the cheap - because who doesn't love a bit of customisation?!

The bonus is that I didn't have to worry about ruining one of my fave pieces in my wardrobe because these spikes are actually little stud brooches, so they can be removed, repositioned and reused to your hearts content - ace, eh?

I am also wearing (for the first time) my new black Jeffrey Campbell Lita dupes - which were £35 from Ebay and were bought with some of my birthday money (the only moolah I am currently working with!) I already have an American flag pair of these concealed platform beauties that I bought over the summer, they were so comfy - well comfy considering the height - that I knew I'd have to give into these. I just hope this style stays in fashion for a while because I don't normally treat myself to shoes!

My hair is getting pretty long now, I can't believe that a year ago my hair was so short - I can actually do lots of different things with it now, bit of a revelation. The down side is that I seriously need my hair colouring and a trim...

Right, I am off to unpack my winter clothes (I have been putting it off) and pack away all my summer ones, I need a mahoosive walk in wardrobe in my life.

What are you wearing at the moment? Anyone else been studding and customising their shirts? You got your autumn/winter gear out yet?

What I Wore: Pick 'n' Mix

I've been having a bit of a rough time lately, not much seems to be going to plan so I'm feeling pretty fed up. Sure enough feeling down doesn't exactly inspire me to blog, so instead of posting regular half-arsed posts I've only been blogging when I feel I had something to say or show you...and today I have something to show you.

A few weeks ago I was kindly sent these beautiful shoes. With a wedge, T-bar and some very cute pink and purple panelling, what is not to love? I am sometimes a little dubious ordering clothes online (not very 21st Century of me, eh?) because of my shape I find I really need to try-before-I-buy and this policy also extends to shoes. So I was rather surprised, actually just damn ecstatic, when these beauties fitted me perfectly! The wedge means they are comfy too, although I have not given them a full night-out road test yet, from what I've found so far, I think they will fare well. The shoes are called  Tiffany, and are from a website called Spy Love Buy and retail at a barganious £22.95. The website sells an amazing range of drool inducing shoes from sexy heels through to cute flats. They even have some really lush flat boots which I am craving for this season. The site hosts regular sales and currently have free postage when you spend over £50 (normally postage is £2.99, which I think is quite reasonable anyway).

My above outfit I wore to a breakfast meeting with a bunch of lovely beauty professionals. I wasn't sure what to pair my new shoes with but then I remembered I bought this polka dot skirt with some birthday money a couple of weeks ago when I popped into the Stratford Primark. I have a couple of pencil skirts but my wide hips make them a tricky style to wear. I thought I'd go for bright and playful mixture of styles and use the skirt and shoes to dressed up one of my favourite Tees with some quirky accessories. Isn't the 'I ♥ U' necklace sweet? - It was a birthday present from a good friend! I was a very lucky girl on my birthday and got lots of stylish gifts, but I'll save that for another time...I feel a new post coming on!

What do you think of my new shoes? Do you buy footwear online?

What I Wore: Keeping the Faith

I struggled to think of a title for this blog post...how to describe this outfit? Sometimes I title my 'What I Wore' blog posts with a reference to what I was doing the day I wore the pictured outfit - but in truth, the day I wore this I just went shopping with my man. No especially interesting. So a nod to the crosses on my new top it is!

I normally avoid wearing any sort of crucifixes or religious symbols/images because I am not a religious person, so I am unsure how I feel about it. Crucifixes seem to be everywhere in fashion at the moment, including inverted crosses ( the cross of Saint Peter or a sign of Satanism - argue amongst yourselves, I'm not getting involved).

When USC contacted me and kindly offered me a top from their website, I was (regardless of my religious symbol fear) drawn to this one. I liked the shape and the sheer back, which sexes up this day-T-shirt. I also think the sheer back panel avoids the top making me look too chunky - as this shape sometimes can. I also  get the feeling this is also the sort of top that will just look better the more it is washed and worn, to give it a nice retro feel.

I haven't shopped at USC since I was a student, as there was a store in Preston where I went to uni. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked out their website, there are some great brands like Firetrap, Miss Sixty and House of Dereon, and at good prices. In the women's tops section you'll find everything from casual tees, dip hems, and cute collared shirts to bustiers, vests and peplum styles. You can find my top, which is £22 from Abandon, here.

Having some work related drama currently and I have lots of posts partially done sat on my blogger dashboard, hence why it has been a bit quiet on the western front, but I'll be back on form soon. Promise.

So what do you think of my new top? Where do you stand on fashion-crucifix? Have you shopped in USC or on their online store recently and what did you think?

What I Wore: Filming Fashion

 'scuse the posing face...

Yesterday I did some filming for the latest instalment of Fashion TV MK. 'What is Fashion TV MK?' I hear you ask. I'm glad you asked... one of my freelance projects - I present a series of online video segments featuring stores from a Milton Keynes shopping centre. If you want a laugh at my cringe-inducing efforts the link is here. You. Are. Welcome.

The new videos I filmed this week won't be up there until next month. Anyhoos, this is what I wore for filming. I always feel a bit of pressure in choosing what to wear for this, after all I am dispensing fashion 'expertise'. As we were filming for Autumn, I felt inspired to darken my wardrobe and as purple looks to be a key colour for next season I thought it was an ideal time to wear my 'new' vintage shirt.

These fringed leggings I bought last summer, from Topshop. They are a bit more interesting that your average sort, and they cost me about £8 in the sale - I think they dress up any outfit. The necklace was from Dorothy Perkins, I'm sure I've written about it before, because it is one of my favourites. My ankle boots are from M&S - another sale bargain from Christmas.

The final accessory is this spiked awesome earring-thing. I have a couple of these - er what would you call them? Earrings, cuffs, ear hooks? Ok, ear-accessories (ha!). I really like the spiked metal bit that pops over your ear - the dangly spike is actually plastic, not that you can tell until you touch it. It is surprisingly comfortable to wear too, I had it on all day and it was more comfy than my traditional dangly-type earrings. When my hair is down the chain and spike hang just below my bob - but with my hair tucked behind my ear, or pinned back, is the best way to show it off. It was sent to me by an American website called Oasap. So thank you Oasap...it may surprise you to learn that it retails at just £6.37. Even better postage is also free, worldwide. If you'd like to get your paws on one, it is available in both silver and gold colour, this is the link.

Anyone else got one of these ear-accessories? Have you shopped on Oasap? ...or are you still hiding behind a cushion after watching my presenting?

What I Wore: Jump(suit) for Joy

A very happy midweek to y'all. Tuesday is officially my dullest day of the week - not the start of a fresh week, but with still a fair few days before the weekend. So I thought I'd bring you a sunny outfit on this dull Tuesday!

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my previous post about the joys of pin curling. In this outfit post you can see what my pin curl sets generally look like on second day wear. While the first day the curls are quite tight and circle the whole head, after sleeping on them for a second night (without any pinning) this is the style I am left with. I just brush the back and right-hand side into a flick and brush the left side to keep the curls.

This is my 'new' vintage jumpsuit you might remember from my Rummage for Vintage post. Yes, my dad may think I look like I work in a garage, but I decided to try and move away from that look by glamming up my new piece. Oh and I'm working the ultimate accessory, my mum & dad's Italian Spinone - the slobbery, but very lovable, Dexter.

What I Wore:
Jumpsuit, £18, Vintage.
Heart sunglasses, £4, Vintage.
At least I think they were about £8. From a vintage shop, only bought these this summer, they are bit of fun, aren't they?
Leopard print shoes, £5, New Look.
These were from a sale, you may remember them from here. They are just a small kitten heel, and are the lowest heel I own, but are great for day wear.
Leopard print belt.
To match the shoes!  Can't remember where this was from, it might have been New Look, but it is a favourite.
Blazer, New Look.
This blazer is actually jersey material, and I really like that it mixes the formality of a structured jacket with what is normally a casual fabric.
Necklace, Outfit.
I've had this for years and although I know I bought it from Outfit, I can't remember which brand, it might have been Dorothy Perkins, or Miss Selfridge. I like its boldness - and that it is shorter than many of my other necklaces, ideal for wearing with things like this.
Clutch bag, Topshop.
This was a present from my sister, and although it is something I would have never chosen myself,
its unusual pattern means it goes with EVERYTHING, and it has an impressive capacity. Win, win!
♥ Hair flower, H&M.
Simple and pretty, this flower has both a hair clip and a brooch pin, plus it was super cheap.

I think my jumpsuit is going to get lots of wear, so I'm trying to think of other ways to style it. Perhaps for a night out, unzipped a bit with a bralet underneath or layered up with a long sleeved top, or Tee underneath and cardi for cooler months, or when it is really warm with the legs rolled up.

Any other ideas of ways to wear a jumpsuit? How do you wear yours, if you have one?

What I Wore: Pretty Polka

Hi all.

Been a busy couple of weeks here at Bandit HQ (can I call it that? I can't can I? Didn't think so). I've been taking on some more commercial freelance writing as well as doing more journalistic stuff - that and getting our garden sorted.

So just a quick post to share with you tonight - a recent 'What I Wore', I've been loving my 50s style stuff at the minute - and this dress has come out to play quite a bit!

What I Wore:
♥ Red polka dot dress. This was from H&M a few summers ago, it was about £15 I think, and is a really lovely shape. If I had one, it would take a large underskirt (still on the hunt for one of those at a decent price)
♥ White sleeveless shirt. This shirt is a more recent purchase, this summer from Dorothy Perkins. It is actually longer at the back and also looks nice done up over skinny jeans
♥ 'Hello Sailor' necklace. This was from Topshop, James bought it for me not that long ago...so cute!
♥ 'Love' brooch. From Punky Pins - the one you might have seen in this post
♥ Woven belt. This is vintage - as worn by my mum in the 70s/80s
♥ Brown and nude brogues. From New Look - had these for a few years, but not really worn them very often, but love them with this dress.
...and red nails, of course. This colour is No7 Stay Perfect in Pillar Box.

Hope you are all having a good week so far. I am on Morning:MK, BBC Three Counties Radio tomorrow (Thursday) with Helen Legh, from 8am. We'll be talking about Ascot fashion - the best, the worst, and the new strict dress code. If you fancy listening you can do so online here.

What I Wore: A Jubilee Picnic

I hope everyone had a cracking Jubilee weekend, and those of you who are off this week, I hope you've made the most of it, despite the miserable weather!

I had quite a busy bank holiday weekend I visited two Jubilee fun days, where I was working...you may wonder what good is a journalist/copywriter/stylist at a fun day, but my other little business is as a face painter. So I spent six hours of the weekend up to my eye balls in children, and with my hands completely covered in paint. The rest of the weekend was spent doing a bit of relaxing at home with my man, and we ventured out to a local 'big picnic' event. Sadly the rain got the better of us, so after consuming our picnic at the speed of light we headed home to watch the first two Alien films in preparation for seeing Prometheus.

In honour of HR I dressed entirely in red, white and blue and with a 50s twist, all weekend. I even tried pin curls for the first time, which I now sort of love. I think I'll post about that at another time though, if you are interested?

Here is what I wore to our Jubilee picnic;
♥ Stripey blue dress - vintage. I bought this a few years ago, and I honestly can't remember which vintage shop it was from, to could have very well been Beyond Retro. I could do with investing in one of those mahooosive underskirts, but every time I see one for sale they are about £40 - anyone know where I can get one a bit cheaper?
♥ Red cardigan - Primark. Almost threw this out last year after a 'wardrobe consultant' told me the shape didn't suit me. Glad I didn't.
♥ Red, white and blue chain print scarf - vintage. One of my ever-growing collection of scarves!
♥ Pumps - Primark. These were just £3, I also have them in grey, super comfy and handy for the summer.
♥ Red Belt - M&S. I used my new leather punch to create a new hole, as it was a bit on the big side, but worn this lots.
♥ Jacket - H&M. I bought this seven years ago, it was a present to myself when I finally plucked up the courage to have all my hair cut off (the first time around). I like that it can be slung in the washing machine, which, being white, it needs quite frequently.
♥ Brooch. This was a present from my aunt and uncle, no idea where it is from, think it was a small craft-type place.
♥ Everything else - Hard to tell, but I am wearing 3/4 length denim-look leggings, which are from QS. My lipstick is Elizabeth Arden. The picnic basket belonged to my Nan & Grandad, it even has plastic cups and plates strapped to the inside, old school!

Hope you had fun what ever you go up to.
Did anyone else dress for the occasion?

What I Wore: Bambi & Manson

Bambi & Manson, do those words mean anything to you? You may have heard them mentioned in your favourite mag, you may have seen the names appear on Twitter, or you may have eyed their shorts adorning a celebrity booty...

The brand is the brain child of Polly O'Connell and boyfriend Jim Cubitt. I first met Polly about three years ago when she was launching her previous label, Unkle Baxta, which consisted of cute customised Tees. I interviewed her for Style Magazine, and was really impressed by her creative flair and business acumen. Although she wasn't very old, Polly looked like she was going to make a success of what ever she did, with the likes of presenter Steve Jones, and Lily Allen, sampling her wares.

I'd not heard much about the label or Polly for a while, then I saw Bambi & Manson - her new project. Specialising in heavily customised cropped denim shorts starting at around £40, these hot, hot pants have quickly achieved a bit of a cult following, with celebrities and mortals (!) alike clambering to get their hands on a pair. They've also been featured in a host of glossy mags...

And the name? Bambi is the cute side of the customisation, featuring florals, glitter and frills, Manson is the rockier side featuring studs, leather and crucifixes. They also do a few Tees, so you can have a complete Bambi & Manson outfit!

The shorts are gorgeous, but erm, very short. Great for all the slim leggy stunners out there, but I'm going to have to get my large behind to the gym if I ever want to rock a pair. Anyhow, they held a competition on their Twitter page to win a top from the range and I won. I was expecting one of the tops I'd seen on the website, but was very happy when I received this funky little number emblazoned with an 'A', thanks Polly & Jim!

I'm glad I can enjoy a bit of the Bambi & Manson fever, without having to tone up my ass!

Here is how I wore it...

On a night out, I wore:

♥ Bambi & Manson top!
♥ Deep purple dress, Topshop - I layered up this cute dress - it is very plain, but a good shape, so it can be worn lots of different ways.
♥ Leopard print tights, M&S- they have some great printed fashion tights at M&S at the moment.
♥ Peach polka dot wedges, Primark - but you know about those.
♥ Bangle, Accessorise.
♥ Short military necklace, vintage.
♥ Long strawberry necklace, Oasis.

Would you be brave enough to rock a pair of Bambi & Mansons? Or would you rather opt for a Tee, like me? What would you wear it with?

What I Wore: Maximising my Assests

Friday at last, it has been a long week here. I have spent most of it in my hometown, near Liverpool, as we've had some illness in my family. Needless to say I've been sat by hospital beds most of the week. Not much fun.

I realised I've not posted an outfit piece for a bit so thought I'd show you what I wore when I went to the cinema with my friend Lizzie the other day. If you follow me on Twitter you probably know I spend a lot of time at the cinema, I've got one of those membership-card-thingy-bobs that means I just pay about £14 a month and can see as many films as I like in that time. Works out well as my man is a bit of a film buff, so it keeps him happy too!

I've been wearing this maxi quite a lot lately because it is so comfy and I can layer it up to keep warm. Plus I keep getting told it makes my rather ample derriere look, erm-herm...'good'. Who am I to argue? Unsurprisingly though, I've not posted a photo of my behind...

What I wore:
♥ Stripey maxi dress, Primark. I bought this 18 months ago and love it for all the above reasons, and also it was super cheap and washes really well. Man, I sound old.
♥ Shearling jacket, River Island. I had to exchange a jumper my Gran bought me for Christmas because it didn't fit, I swapped it for this in the in the sales, I've worn it so much already but a bit scared of it getting dirty with it being so pale.
♥ Ankle boots, M&S. You can't see them very well but these are the ones I bought in the sales.
♥ Ri2k bag, worth more than I would ever spend on a bag. I won this in a competition a while back...thanks Superdrug :)
♥ Love ring - a present from my friend Steph a couple of years ago.
♥ Leaf knuckle duster /double finger ring, Miss Selfridge. I bought this in the January sales, last year!
♥ I'm also wearing some long gold coloured chain necklaces (no idea where they are from, possibly H&M) and an Urban Outfitter's 'A' necklace.

I had my hair done yesterday too (above picture is prior to hair cut), it looks pretty much the same, just no more roots, and tidied up a bit. Was tempted to get it cut short again, my sister has just gone for the chop and it looks amazing so I have short-hair-envy...but I'm sticking with the grow out, for now.

Don't forget you still have a couple of days to enter my competition to win some lush Barefoot skincare products!

Hope everyone has had a good week!

A Christmas Wedding...and Two Outfits

My lovely friends got married a couple of weeks ago and I've been meaning to share, what I wore with you.

The couple, SW & JW were due to get married next year, but due to personal family reasons moved their wedding forward and managed to organise a truly wonderful 'big day' in just three weeks. SW just looked about the happiest, most radiant girl in the world, and JW looked like the real gent in his kilt! The wedding started off in a town hall, I'd never been to a wedding there before and was pleasantly surprised how pretty it was inside the building, which was built in 1853. The service was lovely and was followed by a wedding breakfast. Then in the evening there was another sit-down meal and a disco - all in all good times. I spent the entire day crying though. Never thought I'd be one to cry at weddings. Turns out I am. I'm just a bit messy blob of emotion.

Anyhow, this is a fashion blog so...
Because there were the day-time festivities, a few hours in between, then an evening do - I decided to do two outfits.

Outfit One: The Tux.

Ok, so not strictly a tux, but a nod to the tuxedo. A ladylike version, if you will. And I'll have you know that bow tie is the real deal. And I tied it myself. Skillz.
Here is what I wore:
♥ White shirt - Hawes and Curtis. This was a press gift, back in the days when I worked on the magazine, it is a beautiful fit and has a little stretch too which makes it quite comfortable to wear. Requires cuff links and ironing though, the latter which I don't really believe in.
♥ Bow tie - I've had this for years, I have no idea where I got it from, perhaps a department store. I do know it cost me a tenner.
♥ Braces, again, I've had these for about eight years. I have a feeling they might be from the old man's bit of BHS...
♥ Peplum skirt, this was from Select a couple of years ago. Not the classiest of shops, but I do find the odd bargain in there.
♥ Chandelier earrings, H&M, from about six years ago.
♥ Red skinny belt, M&S. I think this was about £15 earlier this year, and it has had considerable use as it can be worn as a waisted belt or on the hips.
♥ Tights are from the sexy 75th Anniversary collection from Charnos - they are called Brigitte, after the one and only Bardot, and have a Swarovski crystal backseam. During my work with Nobull Communications I've been working with Charnos and fallen in love with this range, these tights are my current fave though!
♥ Little kitten heel shoes are from H&M and only cost me about £20, and I've had loads of wear out of them.

For the evening part of the wedding I changed...

Outfit Two: The LBD

The whole idea was that my outfits tied together in colour and style. Also I wanted to change from the tux for the evening part, as a dress would be more comfortable for busting a move on the dance floor, much needed as both the bride and maid of honour are trained dancers.

What I Wore:
♥ Henry Holland at Debenhams, you may remember this dress from a wedding I went to earlier this year. The dress has made several appearances in 2011, probably because it always makes me feel good as the cut suits my pear-shape.
♥ Hair bow from H&M. A little bit Gaga - I bought this a couple of years ago, it has a hair clip and a safety pin on the underside so it can be worn as a brooch too.
♥ Shoes Carvela. 'nuff said.
♥ Earrings, tights and belt as above.

I also did little tux nails to match :)

It was a bloody marvellous wedding - and I know the couple will be very happy together - Congratulations to Mr & Mrs W!

I hope everyone is organised for Christmas, I still have lots of wrapping, packing, cleaning and baking to do...arghhhh. Shouldn't really be sat here blogging then, should I?

What I Wore: T'other Day

I've not been feeling very stylish this week as I've been off on 'holiday' - although I've been at home, so lets call it a break instead! James has had a bit of time off too so we've just been getting the house sorted and doing a bit of Christmas shopping, even though I'm not really feeling inspired, fun times.

So this is a recent work outfit, which you may noticed is accessorised by a small cat. Very chic.

Here are the details:
♥ Leopard print skirt, Forever 21. I bought this about a month ago on my trip to Westfield Stratford - it was the first time I'd been in a Forever 21 and I was quite impressed by some of the stuff and the prices. This skirt is going to be a winter favourite - I love me some leopard print, even more than Bet Lynch.
♥ White Tee & Black batwinged cardi, both from Primark. The cardi I've had for ages because I love the shape and the T-shirt washes so well and was about £2, which is beyond a bargain.
♥ Tights are Charnos - of course. From last year I think, I love the gorgeous deep wine, maroon colour, which instantly winter-izes my wardrobe.
♥ Boots - not that you can see them very well - are from Topshop a few years ago. They have a fab fringe down the outside which I think is a nice twist. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are completely flat so don't offer much support...God, I sound old.
♥Big beaded necklace is, surprisingly, another Primark purchase. People often compliment me on this oversized piece of jewellery, and are always amazed it is from Primarni.
♥ Black flower clip is from H&M. It is a good one to distract from my currently shapeless hair - damn the grow-out!

Meeting up with a couple of friends tomorrow and hopefully going to see at least one film, over the past couple of weeks I've seen Breaking Dawn, In Time and Tintin - I enjoyed the first two and fell asleep during the third, perhaps I really am getting old...

What I Wore: The Marble Dress

An outfit from last weekend - I had a fairly rare night out, so got to dressed up, which is always fun. As you can see here my hair was on the major fade - and is somewhere between red and strawberry blonde. I have had it redone this week so will post a pic soon to show you the new colour soon.

In the meantime here is a quick What I Wore:
♥ Marble dress, River Island. You might remember it from this post, when I got the dress at Christmas. I really like the shoulder pads and it has a little cutout keyhole piece at the top of the back too which is quite sweet. I think the patterned front and plain back are quite flattering - which I need ATM because I am not exercising, but eating lots of bad things.
♥ Holey leggings. I have no idea where I bought these from, they were tights but were too short so I cut the feet off them to make them into leggings, they go with lots of my 'night out' outfits so it was a good decision!
♥ Carvela Kurt Geiger shoes. My most favourite shoes ever, they were a very generous gift.
♥ Long feathered earring. I normally wear just one with a large stud in the other ear, like I've done here. My sister bought me these earrings Christmas before last and they still remain a fave.

I went away on a work press trip with the fella this weekend to the Cotswold's, it was lovely - I just lay around and ate lots, my kind of weekend! Now I am back in my mouse house.

If you follow my Twitter you may have seen me mention the fact that I have at least one (probably more) mouse/mice in my house. James spotted one the other night, the day after I came face to face with one. I called it Jeremy. For all I know it could actually be a Jemima, to be honest I didn't ask. I was all for the humane traps, but James bought poison, so far the greedy buggers have eaten 200g worth, which makes me think Jeremy has friends. I don't like that we are using poison as my Mum & Dad's last cat died of poison because someone was laying it outside, but we are only laying it inside, so hopefully it won't harm any other animals. I just know how destructive they can be... Anyone else had similar problems & can offer advice?

So that is what is going on with me - exciting eh?! Hope you've had good (pest free) weekends!
